BIG Brew Label Art
This piece reflects the craft and creativity of the brewers who make the beers we know and love.
Pop colours represent the diversity of colour in the prairie skies.
Meet four Canadian creatures who inhabit the spaces that connect to incredible Alberta breweries.
The passion and commitment of admitted beer nerds to use local resources to make a fantastic beer is my inspiration.
My label represents beginnings.
Wild Rose Brewery is the ‘original gangster’ of the Alberta craft beer scene.
There's something about old abandoned farm houses. They're my favourite thing about the prairies.
My label has a winter theme since winter lasts for a long time here in Canada.
CITIZEN BREWING COMPANY is a young brewing company with a clear, simple and bold approach.
Water quality is very important for a great tasting beer.
My super cool artist daughter Eden and I had a lot of fun collaborating on this piece.
For my submission I went with a classic look for a winter theme. That being a winter/Christmas sweater.
My designs showcase diversity, they're cute, they're fun and they're authentically Albertan!
I started with a woodcut of the three sisters and went from there.
A hangover free day due to BIG BREW’S mystical powers and fortunes.
“Soul Site” is about getting close to Canada’s big, wild outdoors to tune in to ourselves.
Simply, I wanted to celebrate beer’s raw ingredients on a backdrop of gold (like Alberta’s wheat fields).
This piece started with a picture that I took last year in Pincher Creek, Alberta.
This artwork was created to reflect the community and togetherness that all four breweries bring to Calgary.
My drawing is generally inspired by the Alberta landscape, and the importance that Last Best Brewing and Blindman Brewing place on it.
My concept was to create an original illustration that would reflect both the breweries and BIG into one.
Demeter is the goddess of harvest who presided over grains and the fertility of the harvest.
I feel that the image I've submitted suits the energy of BIG as well as the breweries involved. It is high contrast and high energy while being something everyone can enjoy. Buddy Holly is a warm familiar face to many kinds of people, which contributes to the feeling of community BIG brings forward every year. I personally would also love to see some pencil drawing find its place on a beer can as it is usually an area dominated by illustrative design. Variety rules!
My Label is focusing on community and local agriculture in Calgary. I chose to display this by illustrating tractors, barley, hops food and many other of Calgary’s identities.
Growing up I always felt like a weird little gal (which is probably true) but as I grew up It became so obvious that there were others like me.
The label that I created for Big Winter Classic is a fun factory of winter ready amoebas.
Back to our roots! Technology is terrifying!
I think that my label art is a perfect fit for BIG because it is colourful, fun, and is inspired by the Blindman Brewing story.
The best beer starts with quality. If there's one thing that all four of these breweries have in common, it’s quality, and not just because they’re local.
I created this because I feel like it’s something that would fit right in at Big Winter Classic.
Portraiture is becoming more and more important as the world becomes less sensitive to the human condition.
My original inspiration for this submission came from Bearhill Brewing Family of Breweries.
This submission draws on values and characteristics valued not only by BIG and the various breweries you have partnered with for the season, but valued by the community you are serving as well.
My submission is like many of the breweries that Big Studio has partnered with.
I have chosen to take inspiration from Blindman Brewing, and have created a visual homage to the “rural Alberta” from which they hail from.
